Moving Day Nears for IC-Fluid Power

After the better part of a year, IC-Fluid Power’s new building located at 8079 Wales Rd. in Northwood, Ohio, is nearing completion and move day is fast approaching.

“The transition is going very well,” commented Bernd Hunger, vice president at IC-Fluid Power. “The culmination of months of planning is paying off and we’ll be open for business Monday, December 8.”

The new 14,080 square foot facility broke ground November 2013 and features an open floor plan office and warehouse to allow easy reconfiguration and expansion as well as creating a welcoming, clean and comfortable space for employees.

“We’re all really excited to move into a facility like this,” said Hunger, “Moving forward, we are focused on continuing to be the industry leader by bringing our customers the best hydraulic components from across the globe,” he continued. “I am incredibly excited about this journey and truly believe that the best is yet to come.”

Design was completed by Duket Architects Planners and Rudolph/Libbe Inc. was the construction company.

That’s a Wrap on IFPE 2014

IFPEThe 2014 International Fluid Power Expo was a huge success! Many of our existing customers stopped by our booth to say hello and we had the chance to meet new friends as well. 

On Wednesday, we are honored to be awarded Hydraulics and Pneumatics Magazine’s inaugural Best Supplier Industry Blog at the show as well. It was a wonderful surprise and we are grateful to the readers of H&P Magazine for bestowing this honor upon us.

This was the largest trade show booth we’ve ever had in our 25-year history. With many companies paring back on tradeshows, we ramped up our presence with a 20’ x 40’ booth (we’ve posted a few of the photos of our booth below. Let us know what you think.).

We were also thankful that six of our European suppliers were also able to join us at IFPE and provide expert insight into their products. A big thank you goes out to the representatives from BKM Serv-Clip, Jahn’s, Maier, Eckart, Universal Hydraulik and Spradow for making the trip.

We were sad to see IFPE 2014 end. We’ve already started to follow up. If we promised to send you additional information or pricing, it will be delivered shortly.

Dan Nitzsche Joins IC-Fluid Power North American Sales Team

IC-Fluid Power recently hired Dan Nitzsche as Product Manager.

Working from IC-Fluid Power headquarters in Rossford, Ohio, Mr. Nitzsche will have business development responsibility for pipe clamps, test fittings, thermoplastic hoses, pressure intensifiers, butterfly and high-pressure valves, as well as, compensators, serv-clip, flow dividers and motors

Mr. Nitzsche recently held the position of Regional Sales Manager Territory Manager for CMC Group in Bowling Green, Ohio, where he was responsible for business development of water soluble products in North America. He also maintained current customer business through regular contact. 

“We are excited to have Dan on board, as he shares our enthusiasm for excellence,” commented Bernd Hunger, Vice President of IC-Fluid Power.“ “Dan will enable us to improve our ability to meet customer needs and provide an exceptional experience,” he continued. 

Mr. Nitzsche holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, specializing in marketing, from Bowling Green State University.

The July 2013 survey was sent to marketing representatives of NFPA manufacturing and distributor members. The following is a summary of responses received as of August 1, 2013.

Tim Niemiec Joins IC-Fluid Power North American Sales Team

Working from IC-Fluid Power headquarters in Rossford, Ohio, Mr. Niemiec will have day-to-day responsibility for continued growth of the Universal Hydraulik heat exchanger, Scanwill pressure intensifier, HydroWer, Aegi pipe clamp and Spradow test fitting product lines.

Mr. Niemiec has more than 25 years of experience within the Fluid Power industry. He recently held the position as Territory Manager for Parker-Legris where he was responsible for expanding and supporting business in Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky and West Virginia regions, both directly and through multi-level distribution channels.

“Tim’s sound knowledge of the industry, his many years of experience and personality that complements IC-Fluid Power’s sales team were the criteria for our decision to hire him,” commented Bernd Hunger, Vice President of IC-Fluid Power. “We have found him to be an ambitious professional who can quickly contribute to our ongoing growth goals.

Mr. Niemiec holds an Associate Degree in electrical engineering and is recognized as a Certified Fluid Power Pneumatic Specialist by the International Fluid Power Society.

200 Million Load Changes Move 25 Tons of Steel

This is how Ulrich Grziwotz, Team Leader for the Service & Development Team in the continuous casting division of ThyssenKrupp Steel AG in Duisburg-Bruckhausen, describes the requirements on components for his systems.

The machine head with ingot mold and elevating platforms from SMS Demag AG and the integrated hydraulic cylinders from Hänchen Hydraulik are particularly important here. Because the oscillating movement of the ingot mold, driven by the hydraulic cylinder, ensures an optimum quality
and smooth flow of 3 mn tons of high-tech steel every year.

The 25t ingot mold oscillates at up to 3 Hz with a random vibration profile. The guide accuracy of the machine head in a vertical and
horizontal direction as well as the reproducibility of the processes hereby fulfill the highest quality demands.

At 1.5 Hz in normal operation and a maximum frequency of 3 Hz, each linear drive performed 200 million load changes in 6 years before the cylinders were delivered to the Hänchen works in Ostfildern in the Spring of 2005 for an inspection.

Hänchen Specialty Cylinders Used in Airplane Crash Simulator

AUA A321 CEET Bewegungssystemtest 2Airplane flight and crash simulation has become an indispensable tool for aviation training, emergency preparedness and crash investigation. Simulators provide an opportunity to effectively train airplane personnel economically and safely, as well as improve the overall safety of air travel.

Simulator complexity varies considerably. Basic simulators are simply computer programs provide users with a number of scenarios which mimic the experience of flight. More complex flight simulators include replicas of cockpits mounted on hydraulics so that it can create a very realistic simulation of the actual flight and/or crash experience.

In this case, Hänchen specialty cylinders were used on an airplane crash motion simulator for an Airbus A321 airplane. The simulation began with the plane flying at a normal altitude and cruising speed when an error occurs. Once the emergency is enacted, the hydraulic cylinders start working and the plane is flying more rough. The subwoofers kick on and the inside the plane there is an increasing level of vibration and noise.

Simulated by the cylinders, the plane crashes down and skids on the ground. When the plane comes to rest, it is in an undefined position and the crew has to evacuate the passengers over the right wing.
